Every industry has different requirements for their websites. A realtor will want to be able to display the list of houses on sale and an auto dealer will want to list their vehicles and also will want the list to be searcheable by the make, model and price at the least. A typical library has it's own list of requirements on it's website.
We have developed all types of sites, including but not limited to e-commerce, content management, social networking and various types of dynamic sites for a variety of industries. Over the past few years, we started working with a number of libraries. Our parent company, Zenith Resources, has been involved in providing technology needs to a number of libraries. In the process, we started working on websites for some libraries. We have been in the web development industry for over a decade. Now, with the involvement in several libraries we started understanding the requirements of a typical library. Of course, no one library is the same. There is a certain number of basic requirements that seem to be a standard in most libraries we have worked with. Besides those, a library could have requirements completely different from another library.
So here are a few items that we believe most libraries will have some interest on.
1. An ability to manage the site without a web developer.
This is probably the most feature by our clients. We can develop a site that you can easily manage by yourself even if you know nothing about web designing. You can add a new page, remove an existing page or make changes to a page right from your site. You do not need any special software or knowledge of web designing.
2. Event Management
All libraries have activities going scheduled on a daily basis. Computer classes for adults, book discussion club, film club, kiddie arts and crafts meetup are a few examples of typical activities going on in libraries across the country. Most of these activities are printed on paper and pinned on the board.
